Your reality is created by your beliefs, which we often form alongside attitudes and values, from our parents, childhood experiences and other past experiences and we then store them in our subconscious minds. They can have a powerful influence on our behaviour and become filters through which we respond to our life’s challenges and they are responsible for our actions, reactions and behaviour to new situations.

If your life feels like a car being driven with one foot on the accelerator and one foot on the brake, the chances are that you have conflict between your conscious goals and your subconscious beliefs. This will continue to be our way of life unless we make changes on the subconscious level.

Beliefs create your personality. You reflect your beliefs. They cause you to have negative or positive ideas about yourself such as feeling:

  • Confident and Competent or Incompetent
  • Worthy or Worthless
  • Trusting or Suspicious
  • Fairly Treated or Victimised
  • Powerful or Powerless
  • Worthy of love or Undeserving of a Loving Relationship
  • In charge of your life or a Helpless Victim
  • Winner or Loser
  • Prosperous or Always Fighting a Lack of Money
  • Successful or Never Quite Achieving Your Goal
  • Being Fit & Healthy or Never achieving your Ideal Weight
  • Equal to Others or Feeling below their Level

According to neuroscience research, 95% of our consciousness is actually subconscious and it is in the subconscious mind that we store our beliefs, attitudes and values. From these beliefs, we create our own perceptions about ourselves and the world, from which we develop our behaviours. Often, the most effective way to change a behaviour is to change the subconscious belief(s) that support it.
